Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets died in late April from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Now, an autopsy report has revealed heartbreaking new details about his death.
Darrell Sheets appeared in 163 episodes of the show between 2010 and 2023. Known as “The Gambler” for his tendency to overbid, he became one of the series’ most recognizable stars. After leaving the show, he moved to Arizona and operated an antique store called Havasu Show Me Your Junk. Sadly, his life came to a tragic end in April.
According to a police press release, Sheets, 67, was found dead on April 22 after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was discovered at his home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
“The male was pronounced deceased on scene, and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation,” the press release stated.
The release also noted that Darrell Sheets’ family had been notified and that his body was transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.

His former Storage Wars co-star, Rene Nezhoda, suggested that cyberbullying may have played a role in Sheets’ decision to take his own life.
At the time, Sergeant Kyle Ridgway, public information officer for the Lake Havasu City Police Department in Arizona, confirmed to Page Six that authorities were “aware of these cyberbullying accusations.” The claims were included as part of the investigation into Darrell Sheets’ death.
Now, an autopsy report has revealed additional heartbreaking details about the Storage Wars star’s passing. Obtained by Us Weekly, the report confirmed that the toxicology analysis was negative. Officials tested Sheets’ blood for cocaine, fentanyl, benzodiazepines, and other substances, but no drugs were found in his system at the time of death.
“The body is that of a well-developed, well-nourished adult male,” the report stated.
Prior to the autopsy, the Lake Havasu City Police Department said that his death was being “ruled as suicide.” Authorities also confirmed that they had submitted the star’s cellphone for forensic analysis.
Honored by his son
Following Sheets’ death, tributes poured in from fans and loved ones. The April 25 episode of Storage Wars was dedicated to him with a memorial tribute.
His son, Brandon, also paid tribute to his father on what would have been his birthday.
“Thank you for raising me to be the man I am today… wish that I could spend just one more day with you. I love you dad and happy birthday,” he wrote.
