Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have found themselves at the center of attention after their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested a few weeks ago. Now, the Royal Family has reportedly banned them from attending royal events for the foreseeable future.
The Royal Family has been deeply shaken following revelations of former Prince Andrew’s close connection to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Meanwhile, with the release of the Epstein files, it has also been reported that their ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, may have had links to him.
Their daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, have largely stayed out of the spotlight, but reports suggest they have distanced themselves from their father following the latest revelations. A few weeks ago, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in office.
Beatrice and Eugenie are said to have taken “different approaches” regarding their parents’ involvement in the Epstein scandal and are reportedly struggling to cope with the release of the latest files.
According to Express, citing Radar Online, a source said, “Beatrice has always had a fiercely loyal nature, especially toward her father. Her instinct is to stand by Andrew and show solidarity, regardless of public backlash.”
“She feels that turning away during difficult moments would only deepen the divide,” the source added.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie banned from major royal event
King Charles has reportedly made it clear that he intends to cooperate with police following his brother’s arrest in February. Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton have chosen to stay out of the front line and remain silent.
Now, the Royal Family has taken action regarding Beatrice and Eugenie.
The Daily Mail reports that the sisters have been told they are not welcome in the royal box at the Royal Ascot this year. Royal Ascot is a major horse racing event in the UK that usually attracts members of the Royal Family. However, the sisters — who are 37 and 35 years old — will not be attending the June event.
A source told the Daily Mail: “I’ve spoken to a friend who works at Ascot, and they said the girls have been told they cannot attend this year.”
The same insider added, “Beatrice has taken this the hardest. She has been completely blindsided by all of this.”
The decision appears to be linked to ongoing controversy surrounding their parents — former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson — because of past ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
May not appear at other royal events
Some reports suggest this could be part of a broader effort to keep Beatrice and Eugenie away from major royal public events for the time being. They may also be absent from other major ceremonies this year.
Beatrice and Eugenie have not officially commented on the reports, and Buckingham Palace has also not publicly responded to the situation.
Some insiders say the move is meant to protect the reputation of the wider Royal Family. Others believe it will be a difficult period for the sisters, who reportedly feel shocked and upset.
