Colin Mochrie, known for his time on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, the popular improvisational comedy show with the tagline “the show where everything’s made up and the points don’t matter,” has always supported his child.

When Kinley Mochrie came out as transgender to her father in April 2026, she was met with nothing but love and support. The comedian has also been incredibly vocal about standing by his daughter.

On her birthday, he wrote in a post, “Happy birthday to my lovely daughter,” adding, “28 years old and everything we’ve ever hoped for in a child.”

Many of the comments on the post were far from positive, prompting the actor to respond. In a subsequent post, he wrote, “Thanks to the fans of this page for being supportive and human. To the trolls, my thoughts and prayers for your body for losing its mind and soul so tragically.”

People praised his parenting and dedication to his daughter in the comments. One person wrote, “Your daughter is very fortunate to have a great dad like you. You and your wife set a great example for the rest of us.”

Another added, “Thank you for supporting your lovely daughter and the trans community. I work with homeless trans youth, and the main reason they are homeless is family rejection. We need more parents who understand and love their children without condition. Thank you for being that kind of parent.”

A third person chimed in, writing, “Fellow parent of a trans child here… your family is BEAUTIFUL, and you set the bar for parents everywhere to love their kids unconditionally!”

The comedian has long been vocal about his unconditional love for his child. In an earlier interview, he said, “You go through this thing — ‘now my child has changed gender from male to female, does that mean that previous child is now gone?’ It’s the same kid [with a] different coat on.”

As for his daughter, Kinley said she was never afraid of her parents’ reaction. “It took some time, but I knew that support and acceptance were on the other side. I was not worried about sex discrimination for a second,” she said.
