Donald Trump isn’t giving up his passion for golf despite the tense situation in Iran. However, a video of him seemingly flirting with a woman while at the golf course with his grandson has sparked outrage. People are calling the president “disgusting” for one particular reason.
Trump has always been an avid golf enthusiast. Yet his love for the sport has also divided the nation. Many are furious that the U.S. president spends so much time on the golf course — costing taxpayers millions — while the country faces inflation, wars, and other crises.
It also seems Trump can be a difficult player to deal with on the course. He’s been accused of cheating multiple times and even earned his own nickname.
Author Rick Reilly titled his book Commander in Cheat, implying that Trump cheats at golf — a claim echoed by many others.
Appearing on Deadline White House on MSNBC, Reilly explained how Trump bends the rules on the course.
“I’ve always said golf is like bicycle shorts — it reveals a lot about a guy,” Reilly said. “And what it reveals about this guy is that he cannot lose. He has to win, and he’ll do anything to cheat.”
Donald Trump’s mocking nickname on the golf course
Reilly added, “And I know because I played golf with him — he took seven mulligans. He took a ‘give‑me chip‑in.’ I’ve never even heard of a ‘give‑me chip‑in.’”
At Winged Foot Golf Club, where Trump is a member, caddies have grown so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway that they gave him a nickname: “Pele,” after the legendary Brazilian footballer — whom Trump has said is his favorite player.
“I played with him once,” said Bryan Marsal, longtime Winged Foot member and chair of the 2020 Men’s U.S. Open, in an interview with Golf.com.
“It was a Saturday morning game. We go to the first tee, and he couldn’t have been nicer. But then he said, ‘You see those two guys? They cheat. See me? I cheat. And I expect you to cheat because we’re going to beat those two guys today.’”
Trump and his administration have faced heavy criticism for their handling of the war in Iran. Meanwhile, other national issues and his social media posts have also drawn strong backlash.
Trump branded ‘disgusting’ after ‘flirting’ with woman on golf course
Few videos of Trump at the golf course exist, but a rare clip of him meeting a fan recently surfaced — and the reaction was far from positive. The president was accused of flirting with a young woman in front of his grandchild.
On Sunday, Trump was filmed at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, where he was heard making comments about a woman’s body while sitting in a golf cart with his grandson, the son of Donald Jr.
Trump was heard shouting compliments about her physique from the cart before stopping to take a photo.
“She’s in great shape!” Trump said while driving with one hand and pointing at the woman. “She’s in great shape — look at her.”
“You want a picture?” he asked before leaving his grandson in the cart, adjusting his belt, and adding, “Come on over here. Is she in good shape or what?”
According to The Daily Beast, the woman was Nina Coates, a golf content creator from Miami who is originally from Taiwan. She posted the clip on TikTok with the caption, “Yes, I’m married.”
“Embarrassing”
The clip didn’t sit well on social media, where many condemned Trump’s behavior.
“This is disgusting behavior from a sitting president. His grandson is right there,” one person wrote on X.
Another added: “Nearly 80 years old, commenting on a woman’s body like she’s a show horse. Embarrassing.”
“Imagine being 17 and watching your grandad do this,” a third user wrote, while a fourth simply stated, “This man is the President of the United States.”
