Rudy Giuliani in critical condition in hospital — Trump makes claim

Former New York City Mayor and longtime Donald Trump ally Rudy Giuliani has been taken to hospital in critical condition.

According to a social media post from his spokesperson, Ted Goodman, the 81-year-old is currently in “stable but critical condition” as of Sunday, May 3.

Goodman did not share further details, and at the time of writing, the cause of Giuliani’s hospitalization remains unclear. The disbarred lawyer was involved in a car accident late last year, but the two incidents do not appear to be related.

President Trump, for whom Giuliani has long campaigned and strongly defended, posted on Truth Social expressing his view that Giuliani was the “Best Mayor in the History of New York City.”

In typical fashion, Trump also used the moment to criticize Democrats, suggesting they were responsible in some way.

“Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition,” Trump wrote.

“What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! They cheated on the Elections, fabricated hundreds of stories, did anything possible to destroy our Nation, and now, look at Rudy. So sad!”

Giuliani served as a close adviser to Trump’s legal team during his first presidency.

The 81-year-old repeatedly promoted claims that the 2020 election was stolen by Joe Biden, including speaking at the “Stop the Steal” rally before the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

Following those events, Giuliani was disbarred in New York and Washington, D.C. over the unproven claims, and was also sued for defamation by two Georgia poll workers. He reportedly reached a settlement with them last year.
