Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were, at one point, one of Hollywood’s most beloved A‑List couples. Many people were heartbroken when they broke up in 2015 and eventually divorced.
Now, a decade later, Jennifer Garner is making a heartbreaking admission about the entire experience. Keep reading to learn more.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have been in the spotlight for decades, both individually and together during their marriage. The couple divorced in 2015 but share three children: their 20‑year‑old daughter Violet Anne, 17‑year‑old Seraphine, and 13‑year‑old Samuel.
Even after their split, the pair has continued to appear together in headlines over the years. However, both actors have remained very private about their personal lives since the breakup, especially regarding one another.
Garner, who has been dating businessman John Miller for some time, spoke to Marie Claire UK and finally opened up about the split.
She said, “You have to be smart about what you can and can’t handle, and I could not handle what was out there.”
She added, “But what was out there was not what was hard.” She continued, “The fact of it is what was hard. The actual breaking up of a family is what was hard. Losing a true partnership and friendship is what was hard.”
After the split, she revealed she sought community for herself. “I make a big, concerted effort to see my people as much as I can, because that’s what matters. That’s where your resilience is: it’s in your relationships and in the people who carry you through.”
She also discussed her upcoming work, including the AppleTV+ drama The Last Thing He Told Me.
Garner spoke about her work outside of acting as well, including her involvement with Save the Children US, Once Upon a Farm, and, of course, her own children.
She spoke lovingly of her kids, saying, “They’re just so cool. Parenting now has shifted. It’s more about parenting with a button on my mouth… You have to let them grow up and make their choices. You don’t get to control it.”
She also shared that co‑parenting with ex‑husband Ben Affleck has been the “hardest thing” for her.
She said, “Not hard in the grand scheme of what is hard in the world, but tricky for me and tricky for my family.”
We wish Jennifer Garner and her family the very best. Share this with other fans of the actress who would like to know about this interview.
