Christina Applegate’s loved ones are terrified as “hellish” details of her hospitalization emerge

Christina Applegate was hospitalized in late March. The star actress has been living with MS for about four years. Now, new details about her hospitalization have come to light, leaving her loved ones terrified.

In 2021, beloved actress Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, also known as MS. According to the Mayo Clinic, MS is a disease that “causes breakdown of the protective covering of nerves.” Multiple sclerosis can lead to numbness, weakness, trouble walking, vision changes, and other symptoms.

The immune system attacks the protective sheath that covers nerve fibers, known as myelin. This interrupts communication between the brain and the rest of the body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage to the nerve fibers.

As of today, there is no cure for MS. However, treatments can help speed recovery from attacks or manage symptoms during the course of the disease. Symptoms vary from person to person and depend on where the damage occurs in the nervous system or nerve fibers.

At the time the Married… with Children actress was diagnosed with MS, she said, “Hi, friends. A few months ago, I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a–hole blocks it.”

Christina Applegate’s loved ones ‘terrified’
Ever since Applegate went public with her diagnosis, the 54-year-old has been very vocal and candid about it. Christina has described how even basic movements can be overwhelming, as her body no longer functions the way it used to.

While MS has changed her life forever, Christina Applegate has faced serious health challenges in the past. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and underwent a double mastectomy. In 2017, she also had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to reduce her cancer risk.

Sadly, Applegate was hospitalized in late March. While she has been hospitalized before in connection with MS, this time was different. Sources close to the actress told the Daily Mail that her friends fear the worst as “hellish” details continue to emerge.

“With every setback, if we are being realistic, everyone has it in the back of their minds that they might not have a tomorrow with her,” a source told the Daily Mail on Friday.

Details of hospitalization
“Christina is a fighter, but her battle with MS has been treacherous. She has better days and really bad days; she doesn’t have great days. She’s always dealing with something. It sucks.”

The insider continued: “But when she looks at things positively, it helps her in the moment because she has so many friends who are there for her—whether to listen, cry with her, or anything in between.”

At the moment, it remains unknown whether the reason behind her extended hospital stay is related to her autoimmune disease. A representative for Christina Applegate told Page Six, “I have no comment on whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are. She has had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”
