There has been extensive online discussion about Erika Kirk since her husband, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated and she stepped into the role of leading his organization, Turning Point USA.
Another theory gaining attention involves Candace Owens. Keep reading to learn more.
Candace Owens was once a close friend of Charlie Kirk, but it appears she may not have the same relationship with his widow, Erika Kirk. Candace has made several accusations, including claims that Erika is misrepresenting her motivations following her husband’s death and that she is not “simply a grieving widow.”
Owens has now released a docuseries titled Bride of Charlie, in which she presents what she describes as Erika Kirk’s “truth.” The podcaster previously worked with Charlie Kirk at Turning Point USA, serving as the organization’s communications director until 2019.
In the first episode, titled A Wrinkle in Time, Owens alleged that Erika was lying about being raised by a single mother.
She displayed childhood photos of Erika, which further fueled online speculation. In the episode, Candace claimed Erika “lies over and over” and pointed to what she described as inconsistencies in her story.
Erika Kirk has often spoken about being raised by a “strong, independent, entrepreneurial single mother [Lori Frantzve] who taught her how to be a good Christian.” However, Owens argued this portrayal was inaccurate, claiming that her father, Kent Frantzve, was significantly involved in her life and was at one point a stay-at-home dad.
Candace referenced a September 2025 profile in The New York Times, in which Erika said she was raised by a single mother after her parents divorced in 1998.
“The only problem is that it’s just not true,” the conservative commentator alleged. “Erika was not raised by a single mother at all. For entire years of her childhood, Kent was actually a stay-at-home dad. So at one point, almost the exact opposite was true.”
She then played a clip from The Charlie Kirk Show podcast in which Erika discussed stay-at-home fathers. In the clip, Erika mentioned that her dad had been a stay-at-home parent at one point — something she described as “really special” to her.
Candace also stated that she had spoken with former classmates and ex-boyfriends who were “bewildered” by how Erika portrayed her relationship with her father.
Owens further shared an image of Kirk’s family tree and alleged that Erika Kirk’s aunt, Karla, may actually be her biological mother.
Erika has been under public scrutiny since her husband, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated on September 10. She later became CEO of Turning Point USA, the organization her husband founded.
Candace Owens has openly expressed criticism of Erika Kirk. The two women met in December 2025 in an effort to resolve their differences, and both described the meeting as “productive” on social media. However, about a month later, Owens claimed that Kirk referred to her husband’s memorial service as the “event of a century” and mentioned that the organization was “at, like, over 200,000 for merch sale.”
“That’s moving pretty quickly to the acceptance phase now,” the podcaster said in response to those remarks. “We know everybody grieves differently. In my imagination, I just thought she would be more upset.”
