Mark Bryan is a 61-year-old engineer from Germany who isn’t afraid to challenge traditional gender stereotypes.
While high heels were originally designed for men in the 10th century to add height and style, they have since become almost exclusively associated with women.
Mark is among the modern men reclaiming this type of footwear beyond those who were born female.
Bryan is a 61-year-old father of three who works as a robotics engineer and divides his time between his career and fatherhood.
At first glance, you wouldn’t necessarily assume he has a large social media presence, but the German native has recently caused a stir online with his bold outfits and photos.
Mark has built an Instagram following of nearly 660,000 users through his posts.

His outfits often feature pumps, boots, and skirts. Alongside his wardrobe choices, he shares his perspective, explaining that his clothing is completely normal to him.
The engineer believes clothing should not have a gender. He often prefers skirts over dresses so he can pair them with more traditionally “masculine” tops on the upper body.
He also feels that skirts offer more variety and flexibility than the standard trousers most men wear to work.
Mark’s children support his approach, especially since he raised them with the understanding that clothing does not define gender or sexuality.

His daughter is one of his biggest supporters and even looks forward to borrowing some of his outfits in the future.
His wife also supports his choices and sometimes helps him select his looks.
Of course, not everyone is as accepting.
Mark has faced both online and in-person criticism, and he often points out that many of these reactions would not exist if he were simply wearing traditional pants.
