Former US Attorney General Pam Bondi was diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after being removed from her role in the Trump administration, according to reports.
Bondi, 60, was removed from her position by President Donald Trump in April 2026, having served since she was sworn in on February 5, 2025.
A source told Axios — as cited by Fox News — that she has already undergone treatment for thyroid cancer and is currently recovering.
Former White House staffer Katie Miller, who is married to Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, reposted the report on X earlier this week, writing: “Pam has been quietly kicking cancer’s ass the last few weeks.”
Axios also reported that Bondi has recently been appointed by President Trump to an advisory committee focused on artificial intelligence policy.
According to the report, Bondi is expected to serve on the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
News of Bondi’s cancer diagnosis comes just weeks after she was removed from her position as attorney general.
Writing on Truth Social to announce her departure, Trump said: “Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown on crime across our Country, with murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.
“We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.”
Signs of thyroid cancer
According to the Cleveland Clinic, many forms of thyroid cancer are considered highly treatable — particularly when caught early — with a five-year survival rate above 98 percent.
Common symptoms of thyroid cancer include:
- Neck pain or pressure
- A lump or swelling in the lower front of the neck
- Persistent hoarseness
- Sore throat
- Difficulty swallowing or breathing
Here’s hoping Pam Bondi makes a quick recovery.
