Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, is missing, and the case is now being investigated as a crime. A report also suggests that blood was found inside her home. Now, a neighbor of Nancy has spoken out, offering a chilling update on what investigators believe may be a possible kidnapping.
Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show coanchor Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since Saturday, January 31.
A large search‑and‑rescue team has been working to locate her without success in the area around her home in the Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona. On Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he “believes a crime has been committed.”
“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” Nanos said.
“We have an 84‑year‑old woman who went to bed Saturday night and come Sunday morning, she’s gone. We know — at least we believe, and I believe we know — she did not walk out of that home on her own.”

The police department is reviewing home security footage in the area, and they have collected what is believed to be “biological DNA‑type evidence.”
Authorities found blood inside Nancy Guthrie’s home, says source “She is really just as sharp as a tack,” Nanos told People. “And that too is concerning — here you have this lady who’s got all her wits about her, she knows what’s going on. So yeah, somebody came into that home, and I believe took her out of there without her permission. It was against her will.”
Early Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times, citing law enforcement sources, reported that authorities found blood inside Nancy Guthrie’s home. The source also claimed there were signs of forced entry. It remains unclear whose blood was found.
The Sheriff’s Department is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for images, videos, or information leading to the arrest of the person or people involved in the 84‑year‑old’s disappearance.
“We’re doing all we can to try to locate her,” Sheriff Nanos said. “Every tool we have, we will use.”

While little is known at this stage, a neighbor, Morgan Brown, who lives “a quarter of a mile up the street,” has commented on the “really strange circumstances” surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
Nancy Guthrie’s neighbor reveals chilling detail about alleged kidnapping Speaking with Us Weekly, Brown said there were “a lot of dark vans with blacked‑out windows” outside the 84‑year‑old’s home.
Residents in the area have been asked to check their Ring cameras for anything unusual.
Describing the terrain, Brown said, “If you step two feet off the road, you are basically in the thick of the cactus. It’s not gated at all.”
“You just walk on the street and then there’s desert, so [they] thought she walked off into the desert or something, but she walks with a cane, so I can’t imagine why she would do that. It’s desert‑y, scrubby mesquite trees and cactus and rocks everywhere,” Brown told Us Weekly.

The neighbor added, “There are quite a few retirees and people who have lived in the neighborhood for a while. You don’t hear a lot of weird stuff in the neighborhood.”
“Horrible news” Authorities said Nancy likely didn’t leave her house on her own, noting she “couldn’t walk 50 yards by herself.”
Brown told Us that Savannah Guthrie immediately came to mind.
“I can’t imagine what someone would want with an 84‑year‑old woman,” Brown said. “The thought that comes to my mind is maybe they are trying to get to Savannah somehow, political or whatnot. It’s horrible news.”
Thoughts and prayers to the Guthrie family.
