Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding is just around the corner, as he is set to marry Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson this weekend. However, his father, President Donald Trump, may not be in attendance.
For many people, looking back on their wedding day brings feelings of joy. It’s a celebration of love shared not only with a life partner, but also with close friends and family.
This weekend, Donald Trump Jr. is set to marry for the second time following his 2018 divorce from Vanessa Trump. He is reportedly heading to a small island in the Bahamas to wed Bettina Anderson, according to CNN.
Reports suggest the guest list will be kept small, with the ceremony expected to be an intimate gathering of immediate family and close friends.
But while weddings are usually occasions that bring families together, one key family member may not be able to attend.
President Donald Trump has said he will “try” to be present at his son’s wedding but may have to miss it. Speaking to reporters, he noted that his son would like him there, but timing could make it difficult.
“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,” the president said in the Oval Office, according to the New York Post.
He explained that the main issue is scheduling.
“This is not good timing for me,” he said. “Everything called Iran and other things.
“That’s one I can’t win on. If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed.”
He also added: “Hopefully they’re going to have a great marriage.”
An insider told Page Six that the couple also reportedly avoided a large White House wedding due to concerns about public perception given current global events.
“They’re very aware that a lavish wedding at the White House while people are dying wouldn’t be well-received,” the insider said, according to the New York Post.
