White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has announced that she is expecting her second child and will step away from her role for maternity leave.
Now, speculation is growing about who may temporarily replace her.
Karoline Leavitt shared that she is expecting a baby girl in May. As expected, she will take maternity leave after the birth, and conversations have already begun about who will step into the role during her absence.
According to The Mirror, one of the names being discussed is Anna Kelly, who currently serves as an Assistant Press Secretary in the Trump administration — and is also a former beauty queen.
Kelly has worked on several Republican campaigns and has held communications roles for lawmakers and state party organizations. Her background makes her a strong contender for the position.
The Fairfax, Virginia native graduated from Auburn University in 2017 with a degree in political science and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She later earned a Master’s in Political Management from George Washington University.

In 2019, she won the Miss State Fair of Virginia title — experience that reflects her comfort with public speaking and being in the spotlight, qualities that are essential for a White House Press Secretary.
However, Anna Kelly is not the only rumored candidate. Other names reportedly under consideration include Taylor Rogers, Liz Huston, and Kush Desai — all of whom have relevant experience for the role.
While no official announcement has been made about who will cover for Karoline Leavitt during her maternity leave, speculation continues to build.
