Frank Fritz, “American Pickers” Star, Passes Away At 60 — May He Rest In Peace

Frank Fritz, a well-known figure in the world of antiques and a familiar face from the reality show “American Pickers,” has passed away at the age of 60, leaving his fans in deep sorrow.

Fritz stepped away from the show in 2021 due to ongoing health challenges. His condition worsened following a stroke he experienced two years prior, which ultimately led to his hospitalization. The news of his passing has brought a wave of sadness among those who admired his passion for vintage treasures and his unique contributions to the show.

The heartfelt news came from Mike Wolfe, a close friend and collaborator of Fritz, who shared that Fritz had passed away the previous night. In an emotional tribute on social media, Wolfe reflected on their long friendship, saying, “I’ve known Frank for over half my life, and he was a dreamer who combined sensitivity with humor. He was genuinely the same person off-screen as he was on, effortlessly connecting with people through his authenticity.”

Fritz and Wolfe rose to prominence as the dynamic duo on the reality series American Pickers, which debuted on the History Channel in 2010. The show featured their adventures across the United States as they hunted for hidden treasures and rare antiques in the most unexpected places.

“We’re looking for amazing things buried in people’s garages and barns,” the show’s opening narration explains. “What most people see as junk, we see as dollar signs. We’ll buy anything we think we can make a buck on.”

“We make a living telling the history of America… one piece at a time.”

The series attracted millions of viewers, becoming one of History Channel’s most popular programs. In its debut year it was the #1 non-fiction series among total viewers and adults 25-54.

While the antiques were often interesting, there’s no doubt it was the chemistry and charisma of the two hosts that kept viewers coming back for more.

In a surprising turn of events in 2021, a well-known figure from a popular series announced his departure after a decade of involvement. The individual claimed that the choice was not his own, suggesting external pressures influenced the decision following a medical procedure related to his back.

He clarified, “I didn’t walk away; my journey was abruptly altered due to circumstances beyond my control.” Following a recovery period, the global situation further complicated matters.

Additionally, he hinted at tensions with a fellow cast member, implying a shift in dynamics that favored one person significantly. “We haven’t spoken in a considerable time,” he shared, expressing disappointment that support was lacking during his health struggles. “It’s unfortunate, but that’s the reality.”

In mid-2022, Fritz experienced a significant health challenge that led to his hospitalization. By the following year, an emotional meeting occurred between him and Mike Wolfe, marking a reconciliation of their earlier misunderstandings. Despite the renewed friendship, Fritz chose not to return to American Pickers, prioritizing his well-being instead.

The bond between the two has remained strong, with Wolfe supporting Fritz during difficult times. On social media, Wolfe expressed heartfelt sentiments about their adventures together, emphasizing the deep connection they shared. “We’ve traveled many paths, and I’m grateful to have been there for his final journey,” he wrote. “You’ll always be cherished, my friend; I know you’ve found peace.”
