Ella’s journey into her new family’s life began at the age of 10 when she was adopted by Emily Kalaygian and her family. From the very start, it was evident that Ella had a distinct personality and wasn’t afraid to assert her preferences.
“Ella is a very sassy and demanding lady,” Emily shared with The Dodo. “But that’s because she knows exactly what she wants, and I can’t fault her for that! Despite her assertiveness, she also has her moments of politeness. Many mornings, she waits patiently by my bedroom door until I wake up. However, when she’s feeling particularly vocal, she’ll let out a charming ‘scream’ to make sure I know she’s ready to start the day.”
One of Ella’s defining traits became apparent soon after her adoption: her deep love for cartoons. This fascination began unexpectedly one day when Emily decided to put on “The Grinch” for some background noise. Ella was immediately drawn to the screen, and thus began her daily ritual of watching cartoons.
“Each morning, without fail, Ella eagerly awaits by my bedroom door,” Emily explained. “It’s our routine for me to select a show or movie that she might enjoy. Over time, I’ve gotten pretty good at predicting her preferences, but every now and then, she surprises me with a new favorite.”
After their morning viewing session, Ella typically settles down for a nap while Emily attends to her work. Later in the day, they often reconvene for another round of TV watching. Recently, they’ve been exploring a variety of shows and movies, thanks to recommendations from friends and followers eager to see what captures Ella’s interest next.
Ella’s enthusiasm for cartoons hasn’t gone unnoticed. Her adventures in television have garnered her a growing fan base on TikTok, where viewers delight in discovering her favorite characters and series alongside her family.
“Right now, Ella’s absolute favorite show is ‘Oswald,'” Emily revealed. “We’ve watched the episodes available on Paramount+ countless times. Before ‘Oswald’ took over, she was a huge fan of ‘Phineas and Ferb,’ but lately, it’s all about Oswald and his adventures. And, of course, Ella has a special fondness for Benedict Cumberbatch, which is why she insists on watching the 2018 animated version of ‘The Grinch.’ She’s quite specific about her preferences!”
From the beginning, Ella has been steadfast in knowing what she likes, particularly when it comes to her beloved cartoons. Fortunately, Emily and her family are more than happy to indulge Ella’s passion, ensuring she gets her daily dose of animated entertainment.
Beyond being just a quirky habit, Ella’s love for TV has become a bonding experience for the entire family. It’s not just about watching shows; it’s about sharing moments of joy and laughter together, observing Ella’s reactions and discovering new aspects of her personality through her TV choices.
“We’ve come to appreciate how Ella’s love for cartoons is a window into her world,” Emily reflected. “It’s amazing how these animated characters can bring so much happiness to her and, in turn, to us. Her excitement is infectious, and it’s taught us to cherish these simple moments we share with her.”
As Ella continues to grow in her new home, her family looks forward to many more mornings filled with anticipation by the bedroom door, countless hours of animated adventures, and the joy of witnessing Ella’s vibrant personality shine through her favorite TV shows. Ella’s story is a reminder of the unique ways pets enrich our lives and the profound bonds that form between humans and their furry companions, all through the magic of cartoons and a little dog who knows exactly what she wants.
