At 91, Angie Dickinson lives a quiet, solitary life in her Beverly Hills home, accompanied only by her cats. Once a trailblazing actress, Dickinson rose to fame in the 1950s and ’60s with roles in Rio Bravo, Ocean’s 11, and The Killers. Her most iconic role came in the ’70s as Sgt. Pepper Anderson in Police Woman, making her the first woman to lead a TV drama and inspiring many to join law enforcement.
Despite her success, Dickinson never considered herself a feminist and preferred not to compete with men, focusing instead on roles written for women. She was married twice—first to Gene Dickinson and later to composer Burt Bacharach, with whom she had a daughter, Nikki. Nikki, born prematurely and later diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, tragically died by suicide in 2007.
Dickinson has largely stepped away from the spotlight, with her last film role in 2004 and final TV appearance in 2009. Though she regrets the toll Police Woman took on her life, she remains grateful for her career and the glamorous experiences it brought. Now retired, she values peace over fame, occasionally spotted by paparazzi but mostly enjoying her golden years in privacy.
