Recently, Garrett Haile, a young man who gained notoriety for a video depicting him throwing a kitten into a lake, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Filmed on Snapchat, the incident sparked outrage, although the fate of the kitten remains unclear. Nicole Pinheiro, who helped expose Haile’s actions, expressed deep distress upon viewing the video, stating that it shattered her understanding of the world.
Nicole’s social media post ignited a whirlwind online, sparking outrage and leading to Haile’s notoriety. She explained, “I recorded the video using my iPhone’s screen recording feature because people wanted to share it. I felt it was crucial to send it to the news stations so he could face the consequences. And it worked—he got caught.”
As the video circulated, viewers inundated the police’s social media, urging action. Nicole noted, “Often, such incidents slip through the cracks, so I made sure the local news was informed, and they responded, saying they’d investigate.”
Now, the Patterson Police are also seeking the individual behind the camera to ensure justice is served. Chief Jeff Dirkse praised community involvement: “Thanks to the calls and social media tips, we could swiftly investigate and make an arrest.”
