I am full of admiration for people who prove that age is just a number.
Whether someone climbs mountains, rides bikes, or plays computer games, it warms my heart to see older people challenging the common belief that age should define what you can do.
This woman has been called “the world’s most beautiful grandmother” for years — and that may not surprise you once you see her. But she is also a perfect example of beauty not being tied to youth.
Yazemeenah Rossi, born on December 21, 1955, in Corsica, France, has appeared on magazine covers around the world. You may have even seen her in campaigns, admiring her presence without necessarily knowing who she was — or her age.
Over the years, she has also worked as an actress, appearing in films such as Timeless Beauty, Relevator, and The Grasslands.
At the start of many modeling careers, aspiring models often work for free or for minimal pay to build a strong portfolio. However, Yazemeenah’s breakthrough came relatively quickly, defying industry norms.
The French model and actress did not begin her career in her teens like most models. She was already over 30 when she started — an age when many models are thinking about retirement.
Even then, Yazemeenah was proving that youth was not a requirement for success in modeling — something she has continued to demonstrate for more than 30 years.
“I was a mother of two kids at 20, working from home — making clothes, knitting, and doing interior design for friends and private clients. I knew as a teenager that I would never work in an office or stay in the same place my whole life. So even while raising my children, I was very active and independent,” she said in 2020.
Although she has worked consistently as a model over the years, she acknowledges that the industry still largely favors youth.
“There was a time, some years ago, when I thought things would gradually begin to change and we’d see more older models — but that didn’t happen. I believe men and women share the same concerns about aging, although men may talk about it less. Nobody enjoys seeing their skin give in to gravity. At the same time, growing older is beautiful because you become stronger with time,” Yazemeenah told Vice.
“Age is definitely a state of mind. If you stay connected to your inner child, you can recharge your energy and keep that spark alive. You need a playful, adventurous, curious spirit,” she said, adding that there are no real “magic tricks” to looking youthful.
Many who see this stunning woman assume she has undergone cosmetic surgery. Some claim it’s impossible to look so youthful and beautiful at nearly 70.
“I haven’t had any cosmetic surgery. The idea of going under the knife when I am perfectly healthy doesn’t make sense to me.”
Over the years, the timeless Yazemeenah Rossi has been praised for accepting and embracing her natural appearance.
“I use oil on my skin. I apply rapeseed oil to my hair. Once a week, I scrub my skin with olive oil and fine sugar. I eat an avocado every day, along with organic meat and fish,” she told The Potion Tree.
In December 2025, Yazemeenah will turn 70.
But she has no plans to slow down. As she told The Daily Mail, “I will model until the end of my life.” She added, “But it’s not about modeling — it’s about witnessing. Witnessing beauty and energy is what keeps us alive.”
Older women should feel proud of their bodies, because each stage of life carries its own unique beauty and meaning.
Being proud of your body is a declaration of self-worth, a stand against ageism, and a celebration of the beauty that comes with time. It honors the journey lived and the strength gained, inspiring others to embrace their own bodies with love and appreciation.
