Tamale’s journey began when he found his forever home through Speak for the Unspoken dog rescue at the tender age of 4 months. Born blind and deaf, these challenges might seem daunting to some, but for Tamale, they were simply part of who he was.
“Tamale will sometimes bump into things, but overall, he’s just like any other dog,” explained Kayleigh Otstot, Tamale’s devoted owner, in an interview with The Dodo. “When people meet him, they’re often surprised to learn about his disabilities because he’s so full of life and joy.”

“Jimmy and Tamale first crossed paths at the dog park over a year ago,” recalled Otstot. “Initially, Melinda, Jimmy’s mom, and I had planned to meet at the park. As our walks together became routine, Jimmy and Tamale’s friendship blossomed. They now look forward to seeing each other at least once a week, sometimes even more.” Their bond grew stronger with each outing, evolving into a deep and unique friendship that touched the hearts of everyone who witnessed it.

“Whenever they meet up, Jimmy has this routine where he goes over to Tamale in the car and gently boops him on the nose,” shared Otstot with a smile. “It’s their way of saying hello and starting their adventure together. Every single time they meet, without fail, Jimmy boops Tamale’s nose, showing how much he cares about his best friend.” This simple yet profound gesture became a symbol of their friendship, illustrating Jimmy’s thoughtfulness and Tamale’s trust in his friend’s presence.
